It was painted from Hardrocker Days in Silverton, OR.  Hardrocker Day is an annual weekend celebration for miners and the mining industry. In this print the miner depicted is a participant in a contest to see who can \"collar the hole\" in the shortest amount of time using the jackleg, a drilling device. This means drilling into the rock, often granite, making a hole into which dynamite is inserted. Do to the water and power source used as well as the tremendous pressure on the hoses this is a highly dangerous job in actuality. The judge for this contest can be seen in the background.
